Focusrite Clarett 2Pre USB

I didn't have two identical cables, so instead of going "close" I went with 2 that are different.

Kept gain at about -0.5 each pass.

Channel 1: 15' Evidence Audio Lyric HG instrument cable

Instrument cables are unsuitable for line level signals/inputs/outputs. Get some proper TRS or XLR cables and you should be g2g. I really hope you did not use instrument cables to connect your monitors too!

The result from each test consists in four figures. Both first figures are the gains to be applied to the left and right channels of the loopback copy (download links available for a large part of the tests) for listening in comparison with the original. Both last figures are the RMS level values of the left (L) and right (R) channels of the difference between the original and the time and level aligned copy generated in Matlab by applying to the lopback copy a time delay, the same for both channels, and the L and R gains, the values of which given here are rounded to the nearest 0.1 dB. Precise values of these three parameters, determined to get the lowest maximum of L and R difference levels, were provided for each test before it was inserted in this list, except for the old ones that were initially measured by means of Audio DiffMaker and the result values of which have been meanwhile replaced without notification in this thread. RMS level measurement is done after removal of the first and last 1000 samples and the DC offset.

See at the end of this post how to contribute to the test.

Thanks Didier. From the converters I've looked at with DeltaWave, the differences were always the biggest in the highs (just sometimes more, sometimes less).

Expect to see an RMS Null of better than -80dBFS (DeltaWave result is -84dBFS). At lower Reference Level settings of the RME I even saw -90dBFS. EDIT: Nope, see update below.

Later I will provide a detailed analysis why the results presented here are often mainly affected by the characterstics of highpass filters in the chain (in the ADC section, typically)... it's the reason why, for example, the original RME Babyface did not do well with its high'ish corner frequency of the AC-coupling (50Hz IIRC).
The vast majority of interfaces have AC-coupled inputs...

Now even with highpass corner frequencies at single digit Hz numbers the Null results are still compromised but the effect of such highpass filters is completely irrelevant for absolutely any use-case of an audio interface.

EDIT: I've uploaded the wrong file (and used incorrect settings in DW, using its "nonlinear correction" feature)
I've updated correct file now (note: it contains some additional residual DC, from the direct DC coupling... don't know if this throws off Didier's method of analysis). With DeltaWave the Null now is -71.5dBFS

This test cannot be measured correctly because the L and R time shifts are too different (about one half sample difference) to be compensated for by means of a single opposite time shift. Such different time shits were compensated in some previous tests only when the difference was exactly one sample by removing the first sample of L or R channel. For sake of coherence with the results measured up to now, the following result for separate measurements of L and R channels will not be included in the next issue of this list of the results.
