Well without proper room treatment, power conditioning, high quality electrical cabling and a military quality socket a new lightbulb is a total waste anyway. Seriously, do you really want that light bulb to show off all the things you always think you are missing and must GAS out for? Better to be happy and in the dark to avoid all the inevitable gear lust.

Changing the lightbulb is pointless if you don't have the room appropriately treated. How much UV trapping have you already done?

It is not the duty of the gearslut to change the lightbulb, for true change comes only from within.

New light bulbs look cold and lack character. You need to find an old one from 1979. Nothing beats the warmth and clarity of those. Everything produced since is just emulation.
I just replaced all my light switches with pull cord sockets and they totally look vintage now.

A bright one. he would know that flourecent/cfl light bulbs would cause much more Interference within the studio enviroment, and opt for an incandescent veriety.

Not to derail the thread, but my refrigerator has some sort of preset sidechaining function where when the door is opened the light comes on.

Right now, when I open the door there is no change in the amount of light inside the refrigerator.

Can someone help a newb out?

I'm hungry but I can't see what's in there

Could you recommend a boutique photometer with a hip name that I could buy to test your hypothesis?

stop whining and grow a pair, man!

if you were really hungry you'd eat whatever you grab first in the dark

Unless you keep poisoned cats in your fridge of course

This thread doesn't run the lightbulb at full voltage anyway, so it won't make a difference. It isn't a true lightbulb thread, its a lightboob thread.

How many gearslutz does it take to change a light bulb? Depends,

Is the gearslut a hipster?
(rolls eyes, long sigh) It's this really obscure number, I'm sure you've never heard of it before.

Is the gearslut an New Yorker?
(In a heavy Brooklyn accent) One. What are you, stupid?

Is the gearslut a Jewish grandmother?
None. Don't worry about me dear I'll just sit here in the dark.

Quite a few:

1 to change the lightbulb
5 to complain about your brand of lightbulb
10 to complain it's not as good as the old incandescent ones
5 to say you don't need a lightbulb, you can do it all on computer
5 to complain about the lightbulb being slow to light up
5 to complain about the lightbulb doesn't come with enough punch
15 to complain it's too digital
3 to complain it's not digital enough
8 to say modern lightbulbs are more reliable
2 to say lightbulbs are crap and you need to buy a modular lighting setup
3 to complain that you need to learn it before you can use the lightbulb properly
120 to ask how to get the sort of light they seen in a film once
15 to ask how to get the sort of light they seen in a film once and include a youtube video of the film that shows up as a white box
5 to fix the white box
10 to show a lightbulb collection
2 to show a really awesome, expensive lightbulb collection
1 to say how awesome the lightbulb collection is
5 to show a really low cost lightbulb and say they're happy with it
5 to ask about where to get technicians for the lightbulb
1 uses a candle

pro tip: never change light bulbs
what you have to do is move them carefully while switched on,
till the filament ends touch and fuse again, it will light for another 1000+ hours
