Lil Wayne - Prom Queen (Going CheesePop Punk?!)

Who's heard it? Really not sure what to think of it but just the fact that he has the balls to make a track like this says something and kept me thinking...

Personally, just breaking rules is cool to me (lol) but I'm curious to hear how blurry the genre lines get in the future. I'm really trying to be a part of this with my (top secret private!!!!! shh) productions and think I won't have a chance without trailblazers.

Kanye broke the rules with what a lot of people slated and then Wayne tries something like this ... what's next?

The backpackers and crunkies will disagree but hey... Anyone know the story on it? Who made it/played it/whatever... .

(auto tune aside, of course)

It's not my website bub, but good to know ... can't imagine he'd lead with something like that.

Although I wonder what part ATT plans on using. The track has some .. erm... "language"

heh Yeah, this is wack... this is one case where I would have no problem with a record label stopping an artist from releasing something...

I especially "love" it when his autotune creates all those "nice" wrong notes.

Once andre 3000 went pop rock with that album with great sucess they all r now. Black eyed peas changed to singing, kanye, etc. He wont stay there just as kanye and andre 3000 didnt but it takes his artistry to a whole new level for mtv and his true fans. "Rockstar status" may not endear him to the streets, which he has already for years, but those high schoolers, especially in the burbs, will go ga ga and add to his fanbase across the world.

Not diggin the autotune but I use Superior 2.0 and those drums sounds VER similar. Everything from the room sound to the kick and snare. Of course, if you program them right no one can tell it's not real drums but that's my suspicion. EDIT: They are programmed drums. There are a few errors that i hear that give it away. And I'm almost certain they are Superior 2.0

I have heard from "my sources" a while back that he is going for a rock sound on his new record. Whether this song is a on the new record or not, it is "new" from him and it sounds like what i have heard he wants to do for his new stuff.

As far as who made it/played it....Does it matter? I make these type of tracks everyday. And so do a lot of people. If you want to go for that sound, just hook up with some rockers. If you can do it yourself, then you're already there.thumbsup

hahhaha, I caught that too.

to be honest, the song is not that bad. he just needs have a rock producer to handle it. the song lacked certain sound qualities that are associated with rocknroll. it's sounds too modern hiphop-ish(fidelity speaking, not musically).

wayne is a great writer and i see no reason why he couldn't do a rock album with the proper people around him.

this is just the effect of what happened to hip-hop. these artist feel like they have to switch genres in order to let out their creativity.

i'm not mad at lil wayne, kayne, or andre for switching up genres. for one, lyrically they are on the top of food chain when it comes to commercial artist. two, who says you have to stick to one genre...it's all art. just don't half @ss it.

The song doesn't sound mixed to me at all. As a rock producer/mixer I would have made sure those drums slammed hard. It sounds like who ever attempted the mix doesn't know how to mix rock drums. It really sounds like one of the Superior 2 presets.

yep, his new album is an all rock project. some of it is actually pretty good, and I'm not a Lil Wayne fan. a lot of the records were done by Cool n Dre

IMO, this is indeed unfortunate, but not much worse than the white angry rock artists mixing in hip hop into their fakery.

..or maybe it is. I'm still listening. And about to throw up in my mouth a little..
