Have I joined the wrong forum?

This is a weird place. Basically, I'm a musician/songwriter who records his own stuff. I made an album using cubase SE1 and an audiophile 2496 with a cheapo mixer and a C1000. I got a record deal with an indie label, a publishing deal and on the back of that I have a commission to score a film. So I'm not exactly green. I wouldn't describe myseld as a record producer, as I'm really a composer, but I suppose I am a record producer, in that, well I've produced a record.
I'm almost scared to ask for advice here. People say things like 'ha! YOU mix 16 24bit tracks in the box and call the result music? Pah!'
The only comment the rather taciturn mastering engineer had on my album was 'Hmmph. That's not a bad mix really'
But really. You guys are bonkers. Like hi-fi freaks on speed.

Theres a lot of egos floating around here.

Dont become one of them.

Just be yourself and ask. You can see who comes out of the woodwork, and then your able to gauge who is helpful and who can be ignored.

Hope that helps!

Thanks guys. I think you may be right. Lots of useful advice here actaully, now that I've noodled around a bit. The 'dingdongs' are, as you so rightly say, rather amusing.
The OP was perhaps a bit rude. Sorry bout that.

Welcome Bob!

There are enough of us on the forum that are real working guys that will eventually respond to a particular thread if we can offer help and we won't if we can't.

Feel free to stick around for a while and use your BS filter.

the longer you participate in this forum.
It´s a fine place after all...

It's part useful information, part entertainment and part waste of time....

The low-end-theory is usually pretty sensible - so-much-gear is varied and leans toward studio slaves talking shop.

I shudder to think what the high-end forum is like these days.
