Octatrack midi question

Hi,

This is probably a straightforward question for most... but I use an SP-404 and mpc500. I recently added the octatrack and I'm trying to figure out how to slave the Mpc/SP-404 to it. I'm slightly confused because there's the limitation to having no thru on the mpc 500 and only and input midi on the sp-404. Let me know if you have any ideas or if I need to buy some sort of midi box. I would also consider slaving the the mpc if someone could explain that.

Thanks so much.

You probably need something to act as a through or split box for the midi output. An old MOTU MTPav used as a midi patch bay would cover that duty.
Other options:
MIDI Solutions Quadra Thru; Four Output MIDI Thru Box

I bought a used Roland A-880 off the bay for way less than $100. Another good unit like this is the MX-8 midi patch bay. These old units are cheap used and way worth it just to have around any studio.
