Which Korg Analogue would you like to see happen next?

So Korg have shown they have the will and capability to bring a full size analogue back from the past. I think its quite safe to say they are using the MS20 limited run of 1000 to see if its worth taking the next step and releasing more of their herritage.

Which one would you like to see resurected, and with what slight modern extras should it have?

I personally would like to see a Monopoly with midi, and (not sure how viable this is) some kind of patch memory.

I added Trident, which might be a bit unrealistic due to the complexety of its build, and didn't bother adding the PS series as I really don't think they would consider these 'telephone exchange' bemothes

I voted Mono/Poly.. because it would make the most sense.
But then it got me thinking.. this makes no sense.. and none of them are gonna come to life.

Sorry to break the news.. but Korg doesn't really have many iconic vintage synths.. MS-20 is really all there is..

I don't know if I want to see another reissue.

But a Mono/Poly MkII, combining tech from the ms-20 mini, the volca keys paraphony/OSC mix options, as well as other modern features could be a really nice move.

Oh, and patch storage + full automation over midi.

Well, the PolySix was always my favorite. So that's the one I voted for.

PolySix with multimode filters, and two banks of poly. heh

Of course what I really want is a PS3300M. "M" for memories, and MultiMode filters.

All polys are dependent on ICs for osc and/or filter.

Rereleasing those means rebuilding those. Though - Mutable Instruments already did some effort for Korg.

Oh ,.. I mixed up "would you like" with "would you think".

I'd say Trident no question.

A six note polyphonic 770 with nice chorus + delay effects, at least 32 memories, midi. That would be nice.

I think the market needs some lush VCO-based poly synths. Whoever gets there first - at a reasonable price - will make a killing.

I had one for a while. Really could growl, sounded fantastic, but ultimatley was a preset performance monosynth with limited (but good control).

I can't see Korg bothering to re-release this one tbh.

Similar story with M500.

Basically an M500 with a bit more nuts??

I'm a fan of the M500 (actually liked it more than the 700S)

Actually it was quite a bit more powerful than the M500. All the presets could be stacked. Think it had 19 VCOs and the Korg 35 filter circuit. It certainly sounded warmer than an MS20 though.

Strange synth. Should have kept it. Also, it looked oddly beautiful!

it's the next logical step for korg, making the MS20 bigger and bigger until at last , it's as big as a house!

I find it weird that people want mono synths from Korg.
Bloody useless unless you are into sampling their sounds.
And if you need analogue monos for bass there are already countless options out there...

Personally i think an affordable (!!!) "polysix Mk2" with two oscillators per note and a second EG would wipe the floor with a lot of the polys out there.

Mr Grumphh, you always seem to have a similar mindset to me on many topics and above quote is spot on. That would close the 'missing link' in Korgs odd exclusion or absence of a 2 VCO poly back in the days of the P5, OBX, JP8 etc.

Yeah, and in these days of dual VCO poly worship it might not even be bad seen from a business perspective*.
Just keep it as analogue as the original polysix - i.e. no cheap digital fx section to replace the original fx and so on...

...and cheap - did i mention cheap? heh

* Take a look at the guitar world, where quite a few brands have cashed in on offering the same specs (mainly types of wood being used) as the holy grail instruments used to have back in the day.

E.g. if i wanted a new guitar that soundwise was as close to a '58 Les Paul as possible i would not buy a Gibson, but rather choose a smaller company that claims to use NOS honduran mahogany for the body, and older assembly techniques and so on..

Something that takes the best of PolySix and 770.

PolySix's effects, arp, chord memory, full PWM, memories, then add 700/770's filter and ring mod.

Just kidding.... Polysix would be cool. We need some simple, affordable polys.

I have a polysix and its great, but it needs a lot more features to be amazing. I think the best thing they could do is to take the polysix and expand on it, make it even better.

I really want to see something 100% built to last, forget the budget end of the market and bring out something deluxe.... even with some nice wood! Something to save up for.

I doubt they could remake the BBD ensemble? That is one of the best things about it.
