Few words on refurbishing SEQUENTIAL digital gear!!

I just finished refurbishing mine Prophet VS and long time bought studio 440

here are few things I did ti them

- new VFD displays from noritake
- all brand new switches on bout machines
- replacing old capacitors
- replacing data sliders

why I start this thread is cause i wanna put a warning on buying data slider for Sequential machines from Wine country!!!

They have right one but wrong taper ... They sell logarithmic ones instead of liner ones and editing is almost impossible with LOG ones!!!

mouser stock right ones cheap !!! ( they are right ones for Prophet VS keyboard and rack and studio 440)
PTA6043-2015DPB103 Bourns | Mouser

also its easy to find knobs for that slider .. farnell have em and also RS components!!

Switches for Studio 440 are here ( I believe that ones are same in prophet VS keyboard)

B3J-1100 - OMRON ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS - SWITCH, SPNO, BLACK | Farnell United Kingdom

B3J2200 - OMRON ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS - SWITCH, HINGED, SPST, ORG, RED | Farnell United Kingdom

and to find Prophet VS rack switches was crazy !!!

they are from Fujisoku company in Japan... and so far only source i found for them is this

TM1 01 Manu Fujisoku Encapsulation DIP4 | eBay

NORITAKE VFD can be found here:
Noritake VFD CU-U HD44780 LCD compatible Vacuum Fluorescent Display

I hope this post will help somebody who love his Sequential gear

It's funny you mention that.

My 440 obviously had the wrong (Log Taper) fader installed and it gave me the $hits.

I eventually sourced a linear taper fader on eBay..

Good to know you can source them from mouser.. Thanks for the tip!

Did it require modifying the PSU?

I saw where a guy blogged about his attempt to install a VFD in his Prophet VS and couldn't get it to boot. Here's his analog heaven thread

http://analogue-heaven.1065350.n5.na...D-td83733.html

Would you mind sharing how you got it all to work?

Hmmmm, that's interesting. What Noritake did you use? Same as the 440 install?

Just bought a Prophet VS and need to replace all tact switches.
Where can I buy replacements? Do I need to buy the "whole button"?
Is it not possible to just replace the switches like the ones in the Roland buttons for TR-808, Jupiter 8 etc?

Which store?

So I have to find blue housings with the switches mounted?
It is not possible to replace the switches in their plastic housings?

Found them all at Digi-key
SW822-ND Black with led
SW2316-ND Blue
SW820-ND Black

Ordered some extra. Guess I can just change the plastic top cover for the blue and orange ones with leds.

And yes, they can be taken apart to just replace the switch... however, the plastic locking easily breaks!

Update:
The blue and orange with Led can be sourced right now from Mouser. (A friend told me).

Here for the gear
I just bought an OLED from here on ebay and installed it in my 440. Worked perfectly. Seller includes a red film to match 440, but by default it's the blue-white to match the VS. looks and works amazingly, and no soldering required.
