I hope it doesn't take nine months like the MiniBrute!

Has anyone else heard of any release dates ?
Is it Awave?

I'm guessing they did that on purpose just in case so they don't have to deal with the same stuff that happened with the MiniBrute, I think they will get units earlier.

Yep it's Awave.
I've seen them get stuff in earlier than their predicted date before too.
It's a smart move really.

Preordered on Saturday from DV247 (UK) & was told May too - this date came directly from their Korg rep

At this point what you said seems so realistic it's not even funny.

Bummed to hear a possible May shipping date, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. I just need to stop reading this thread and obsessing about the thing, completely forget about it in a month, and then be surprised when the Sweetwater dude calls me to say it's on its way. Too bad I already sold off my Slim Phatty so I could afford it. Now I'm mono-synthless for a few months.

What's with the $799 price when the AU dollar is stronger than the US and it's only $599 street there?

Aussies get shafted again...

I was in remission for over a year, but this synth has reignited my GAS.

DSI go digital and one of the big three go uber-slutty VCO. Who would have thunk?

From the video the MS-20 Mini only have midi input. Is it possible to use the keyboard to control other synthsizer?

Yes I saw that too.
I'd prefer to buy from Awave, they usually price match and offer free delivery (I HATE driving to the city, even to purchase a Synth!)
So I plan to put my haggling hat on and see what happens.
With my bartering skillz, I'll probably end up paying $900 for it.

The Prophet 12 is all digital waveforms?? It Sounds very nice, just recently picked up an ESQ-1 and am really impressed with the power of it both in sound and features. If anyone doesn't have the cash for the the 12 and doesn't already have the ESQ-1 (highly unlikely on GS) then go for it. The filter is pure luxury. $240 is like robbery, but then you try to pick it up. OMG.

Does anyone else feel like the Sub Phatty is the most organic sounding of the new moogs? I feel like everything else they have come out with in recent times has been partially flat to my ears. Had the LP then sold it. Looking forward to knobbage of MS-20. <<<Related to thread now.

Via USB only and even then you' d have no velocity.

anyone know if the new version will accept velocity information over DIN MIDI?

(i don't think the original can utilize velocity CV, no matter how you patch it)

I heard some information that the MS20 MINI is backordered already about 1-2 order runs.

Some of the info I got is saying that Korg didn't expect how popular the MS20 mini would be. it's exceeding their expectations, this is very good for analog nerds like us!:D

Most likely not, there's no place to send a velocity CV even if you had access to it. I'm thinking that the MIDI is a minimal implementation, that simply translates "note-on" and "note-off" into CV and gate. It would be nice if it recognized pitch bend messages but somehow I don't think it does.

Other than the smaller size and the built-in MIDI-CV, the MS20 Mini is essentially the same as the original MS20, warts and all. That does bring up a question though: was the original MS20 low-note priority or high-note? And is the new one the same way, or did they go to last-note priority since there is a CPU scanning the keyboard/midi?

That said, it would be cool if Korg developed a new variant of the MS20 that corrects its limitations, such as adding PWM, oscillator sync, a pitch bend wheel and more patch points. Maybe call it the MS25 or something.

i would love that

i could see some modders out there doing this and offering it as an upgrade, similar to the monotron modders that exist

I believe these reissues only work if they don't add features to the originals. Not only will there never be consensus on which modern features to add, but the cost of each one can range between minimal to impossibly expensive. Its silly to throw around possibilities like they are all equal. Please, no surveys on what we would like in the next MS-20. It only confirms to Korg and Roland that the analog fans can never be satisfied, so why bother.

agreed, but i do think that there will be a lot of aftermarket stuff going on...since the ms-20 schematics are (probably, idk much about this stuff) well understood and dispersed.

that's the advantage of accurately recreating the original...people can implement their favorite modifications with relative ease, just scaled down.

You may as well ask same question comparing something like Pro-One to Little Phatty.

One is yellow other is black, eye-striking difference.

Limitations and tone make the synth if you add every feature it's like everything else, another mono, which is covered pretty well in the market.

I just read the signature quote above, same thing already said, nice one!
