FR Revolution and MPC 1000 MIDI sync problem

MIDI sync is usually simple, but my FR Revolution and MPC 1000 (JJOS2XL) are not syncing tightly at all. The Revolution sounds maybe a 64th note behind or less, but it's really screwing up the groove. Technically, they are in sync but it almost sounds like one sequencer is slightly faster than the other one or something.

Does anyone have any experience with MIDI sync on either machine?
I've tried multiple settings on both but haven't found a solution.

The MPC has something in sync settings called frame rate. Changing it seems to have little if any effect. Changing BPM, swing settings, or MIDI channel in the FR has little effect either.

I don't really want to have to fork out $500 for a Syncgen, I just want a tight sounding setup. Help appreciated!

^Right. Do you use one?
It looks like a good product, but at that price it's sort of a last resort. Most of my gear in the past has synced up well enough but this new combo doesn't.

Looking on Youtube, there are many videos of people using a Revolution with other gear and everything sounds tight (enough), but that's not the case here.

I'm wondering if it isn't an issue with the MPC 1000 (JJOSXL2). Come to think of it, the sequencers in my DSI Tetra would not sync tightly enough with the MPC either.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Hmm... I tried putting the MPC1000 as slave and FR Revolution as Master, and the sync sounds really tight.

BUT... it won't work the other way around with the MPC the master, which is how I need it to be (the center of the studio, sending MIDI to everything else).
Has anyone else had this issue with either the MPC or the Revolution set up in a similar way?

I'm really not wanting to buy a sync-shift for an issue that could be solved another way.
