I am looking for a software VST sampler. I've just started exploring Cubase Artist for sequencing, and possibly using a software sampler. This Cubase version includes HALion Sonic SE. Is this version not have any way to load your own samples? I have my own library that I've built over many years. Basically I am looking to replace the functionality of an Akai S5000. Can someone recommend a good VST to do that. Does the full HALion do what I need and is it any good?

Look into the free version of kontakt.you can get komplete elements for $99 I think.they had a version of kontakt you could download for free.

As mentioned above Shortcircuit is a very good free sampler also

I will check those out. I started looking at a demo of HALion full version. It's not too bad. Shortcircuit looks interesting. I see that it can import S5000 programs, which would be nice. I'll propably check out Kontakt as well. Thanks.
