I'm not really obsessed with the pitching of the SP-1200 or chasing some older myth / record / whatever. It just sounds amazing as a sampler. Strong, powerful, dry drums that don't need any further processing. It definitely is noticeable to my ears, and the sound (not workflow obv) is preferential to software in my opinion.
I received a track to remix the other day and I said to myself "Those are definitely SP-1200 drums". I read an interview with the artist later, and I was right. So it def. has an identifiable sound.
I'm after that warm, slightly gritty 12 bit sound of the SP-1200 for some drums. Any advice on some vsts that can make it happen? I don't own maschine yet but plan to buy it...
It does not emulate interpolation and aliasing correctly at all. Looks like it only emulates UI, but who cares?
There is mentioned on their webpage:
"eSPi makes the gritty sound & effective workflow that helped create your favorite beats of the 90's available right at your finger tips for the very first time, with no limitations."

[EDIT ]
I was wrong. The last video on their web site actually shows pretty much correct interpolation and aliasing. I was using the original SP1200 for 15 years. Workflow looks like close to the original as well. They do a good job. I'll try this, thanks.
