I remember going to see Billy Idol in concert in San Diego in the 80s and Steve Stevens was playing this crazy looking futuristic guitar no one had ever seen before. Sometimes it didn't even sound like a guitar, it sounded like....like...A SYNTHESIZER!
Soon after I found out he was playing the brand new (at the time) Roland G-707 MIDI/Synth guitar, which to this day looks like some teenage fever dream ideal of a guitar from...THE FUTURE!!
One of the few recent albums I've heard a bunch of times - the press described it as "post-rave", which I think is kinda fitting. She hails from Cyprus.
stumbled upon this (quite hilarious) Tom Waits interview (1979, @

he really is one of a kind..
one of my favourites (keep coming back to this time and time again):
I am going to start telling people that it's a Cookie Monster lost tape when I play one of his tracks, so they will pay more attention. He is a funk master and a legend.

you are seriously confusing me here. I looked up Cookie Monster and that seems to be some kind of Punk band ? :D
First time I heard it was on a YT commercial. I like the song's originality. It reminded me of the audio engineer's secret sauce for production.
I wanted to hate it at first but kept getting drawn in and not just by her looks, but it does take a trite AF hook and manages to make it all pretty interesting.
There's a great live version of "Once You Get Started" on the Madison Square Garden No Nukes Concert (1979; ). The rest of the concert is CSN, Jackson Browne, the Doobie Brothers...mostly white artists, and they all do really well. But "Once You Get Started" just blows the rest away--it's a great live album (IMHO), but this track is the diamond.
