I never understand why some people hate cats. I do understand why people who are allergic want to avoid them.

I would love to sample a cat's sounds and twist them beyond recognition, that would be fun. Thos animal have a great variaty in sound they make. There are deep synthesizers in their own.... lol

Here a small story how I gained appreciation for cats.

I used to have a cat while I was in my Grandfather house, its was their cat. What an amazing, a wild cat. She came and go when she wanted, she was bringing ,snakes, birds in the house. Dead of course. And then she looked at me with such pride. She was always demonstrated enormous amount of love and intellignece. Always looking me in the eyes. Her name was "Irma" .

I used to dive for scorpion fish. Scorpion fish is named that way, cause its poisonous fill with stings that can infilct as much pain as a sting from a scorpion. Scorpion fish need to be boiled first in order to make the poison harmless and the fish itself can live almost an hour outside water. Once I made the mistake after half an hour outside water to look the fish from above assuming it was dead, with one move it jumped almost half a meter and it was a miracle that my reflexs worked and avoided its stings. Scorpion fish are extremely difficult to catch. They are difficult to spot like an octopus they take the colors of their environemtn and with a single move they can disappear.



I kept the big fish for myself they made a great soup , as they have very sweet and smooth flesh. And I gave the cat the smaller ones , too small for me to eat.

She always aproached them with confidence but then the cat did something amazing. She used her claws to skin the fish part by bart. And she removed the stings first. As if she knew that the fish was poisonous , but not the flesh only the stings were poisonous, the poison was enough to kill a cat in a matter of minutes. This was a dangerous fish, still she skinned it like a surgeon , aiming for the stings first and then ate it.

This happened hundrends of times, as I was diving for scorpion fish almost every day during summers and that gave me a huge respect for cats, the ellegance they approach a dangerous problem , is something all other animals including humans lack.

I was recently reading a section in a medical text book on schizophrenia because it runs in my family, and it said one of the warning signs is a hatred of small, fuzzy animals or objects, and especially cats. It's caused by chemicals misfiring in the brain, and it's considered an unnatural reaction.

Personally, I love cats. My wife and I have a lot of land so we've rescued as many as possible. I get them fixed, get the shots, then either give them to good people who already have cats to use on the farm to control mice, or we sign them up with no kill shelters, and deliver them when they have someone looking for a certain pattern/breed. We've had as many as 45 in the past, but with eight years of concentrated effort, the local population has really fallen, and we're now down to four.

I second that. Thank god for allergy shots and singulair. I regularly use my cat as a pillow and I don't think I've had to reach for my inhaler in almost a year.

On a side note, is the world ready for a Sound Engineer's Guide to Cats?
