Reusing patches

Hi all,

Just out of curiosity:

Let's say you've developed a really good sound on one of your synths.

Would you only use it once, so that each track you do is unique, or reuse it several times, where you think appropriate?

If the sound defines the track - think of something silly like Darude's "Sandstorm" lead sound - then any next track using that same sound will be seen (most likely) as a lame repetition.

There is a lot more that makes a track unique, though; put otherwise, if it was that bad, then there'd be only one song at all for piano instead of dozens. If it opens up sonic territory that can't be explored at once in a single track, sure - why not?
