Cheap SCSI - CF Card - how to make with spare parts

ok i was looking for a working microtech pcd-25 for my mpc60 but invane so i find the way to make a cheap CF card by myself... the only lack or differences is that is not hotswap so u have to turn off the mpc in order to remove the card.. but it's a long way cheaper and due the fact working pcd microtech is seems to be rare...

buy this

ACS - Digital Message Audio Repeater Players, ANSI LCD Terminals, IDE to Compact Flash Adapters

and it's a good cf card reader with the support to be fixed where the floppy is now...

then i find this is quite ok to do the scsi to ide conversion

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=350044078177

and then u should use a scsi 50 pole ribbon cable to reach the scsi of the mpc... i found this kit is pretty well explained here

Akai MPC Forums - View topic - SUCCESS!!! Internal card reader in 3k!

and so for less than 50 dollars for the scsi to ide and the cf card reader and dunno what for the kit u will have a perfect (in time) digital store solution for your old scsi sampler...
peace

i'm guessing the real reason the price has gone up is simply lack of demand. Not many people are still using 50 pin scsi in modern applications, it's all gone to SAS/SATA these days, all that stuff is way legacy. I mean even ultra 160/320 scsi over the 68/80 pin connector is old now, none the less the even more ancient scsi variants.

I don't see why not. The real issue is if the various adaptors pull too much current from the p/s.

I did this type of scheme to an EMU ESI-4000 w/Turbo board a few years ago and was able to get it working with the internal supply and still power the internal floppy drive.

For the ASR-10 you might be better off using a floppy drive emulator like the HXC that uses SD cards.

Just bought an SCSI/IDE converter. Does anyone know if the 512MB limit can be overcome with an SD card (I guess not)?
