MIDI sync brain

I wanna pick your brain on suggestions of what to none computer based midi sync brain to get. I want to be able to play keys into it in real time and record midi note messages, in different channel's. It doesn't have to be new, just well priced and syncs well. This would be used in a live setup.

Say what ?

You cannot record into a Midi Sync Brain, because sucha thing does not exist.

The closest thing to your suggest product is a Synchronizer ( going by the name ).

What you really want is a Midi Sequencer.

Look into these :

Akai MPC ( any model )
Akai ASQ-10
Roland MC-500/50/80
Yamaha QX any model

Of the above, only Akai MPC´s are available new. The rest are more or less vintage and need to be found used.

Yeah, that one will work too.

Look for a model that will allow you to store your recordings to some sort of memorycard or floppydisc.

Yamaha Rm1x is one of the best midi sync brains out there.

the MV8800 is a bit overkill for what i Want. the Rm1x is along the same line, but yamaha is usually a pain to program. I was thinking of the older electribes, sort of like the emx. thing is I don't want the auto 16step quantize it does.

The Elektron Monomachine is a nice little box with 6 extra midi-tracks for external sync, and its programmed like the old TR Roland drum machines.
