Hi i'm new and i need a tool

Hi, this is djreality. Greetings from Spain! and I am looking for a tool that converts from 500 down a sound to mono and up to stereo. I will do it with basses. Actually i'm using Ableton live 7 in a mac intel.

Thank you

mono subs? for 12" pressing?
in software:

NuGen Monofilter sub mono for mastering plugin.
izotope ozone has something similar.

in hardware: most PA crossovers + a small mixer will do the trick

i think maybe UAD fairchild has also that mono subs feature.

I'm going to use it on a single bass track not in a mastering track

duplicate stereo file
filter one HPF 500 Hz
filter one LPF 500 Hz
sum left and right channel of LPF track (the "mid" of a MS setup)
mix to HPF track
done

also look at "elliptical" equalisers
like this (scary expensive but scary good) one:
Niveau Filter with High Equalizer and elliptical EQ W794
Elliptic EQ

The section increases the crosstalk with a steepness of 6 dB/octave. The frequency control is calibrated in that frequency that causes 15 dB crosstalk. The control range starts at 25 Hz and reaches up to 2 kHz. A setting above 300 Hz will be audible; however, may result in a better compromize of the particular mix..

get used to the thing called "layering" and you wont need to get grazy by the marketing of a lot plugin-brands.

Yah nice huh, wouldn't you love to have a rack or two of that?

I know I would. *wipes drool*
You realise it's (fully balanced) top of the line hardware circuit?
(the rendered picture is just to show the idea)

anyway..
Just look at the idea behind it. That is why I posted it. Low freq sound not being directional, you can make it mono, just like you suggested in the first post.
With some thinking and creative approaches to splitting, layering and filters (=phase shifters) you can go a long way.
That ADT is a very serious mastering tool, made for people who don't have the time to experiment. That 2500 euro buys (precious) time, shortest route from A to B. Also, the opinion of a lot of mastering engineers is that elliptical eqs are not something you HAVE to use all the time, but only in problem fixing.

There's some plugins that do stuff like this as well, but being a DIY sort of person, I want to be able to do this with raw building blocks and knowledge, instead of one plug and one "process" button. Just my quirky opinion, not necessarally the "best" opinion.
