This is what I remember from an interview appeared on some magazine several years ago. Things might have changed, obviously...

He used an MPC 2000 (this particular one seems to appear on Ebay pretty often lately) and a recently acquired MPC 4000 for sampling/programming/sequencing the core of his tunes.
Tracking everything into PT LE (Digi002, if I remember right) on an under-spec'd laptop.
Minimal use of automation and plugins... I remember him being kind of proud of that.
Moog Voyager for bass and synth parts.
Various acoustic and electric stringed instruments.

I'll see if I can find more...

Scott is friends with Richard Devine, and I remember reading an article where scott said that Richard had given him a bunch of crazy samples. Perhaps this is what boom bip was talking about?

nice review,
"There’s mega-editing, using the MPC especially. I mean, computers do all that for you nowadays, but with the MPC it’s all manual – all the edits you’ve got to do one at a time – so you’re punching pads and beating the **** out of this machine. It has a more human feel because it’s not the computer doing it for you it’s you doing it to the machine. "
I still don’t believe his stuff has been done strictly on the mpc alone, all those edits? Wow.. 32nd notes max, perhaps if u speed up the tempo, i consider myself an expert on the mpc, so it boggles me a bit.but i guess it can be done, if he can do it.

I think he knows a little more about computers than he is leading on.
"You can back it up on your computer if you want to; I don’t know even know how to do that though"

not knocking him, hes amazing, it's just. wow. all on the mpc eh?
i don't think it's even possible.
