Probably marketed for Japan initially. I bet we'll see them by summer time though =o]

Google translation:

The tone is worrisome, KORG R3 and analog modeling system, microX of the PCM is a hybrid system, so real acoustic sound system from a wide range of electronic SHINSESAIZARASHII was recorded!

This is ↓ rear panel. USB-MIDI is equipped with terminals, as the controller down pat! I do not have confirmation, perhaps as microX VSTi if the tone control is the best! ! !

Why couldn't they just throw a mono synth enigne in it and call it a day? If they got it this retro looking, throw an analog synth engine in there!

Wow, even fewer controls than the original...

I don't know, I guess as useless as the amount of controls on the original were, you might as well go ahead and ditch them all. They are really milking the hell out of that MS2K/Er1/Micro engine, though. Maybe it's time for them to make something *gasp* new?

Yes!
Perhaps they can take the lead of Moog & Dave Smith Instruments and take what awesome analog technology that they had developed in the past and add today's technology to bring us a new analog or analog digital hybrid synth.
The market wants it, DSI & Moog are proving it. It's time a major manufacture gives us what we want.

a 'keyboard' with a 'Program Genre' knob ...? That's ridiculous. Get a radio tuner instead.

I always hated that about the original. Sorting sounds by genre is just stupid.

"When I want a bass sound I go to... Huh, weird, every genre uses bass sounds, so what now?"

I rearranged all of mine and relabeled it to reflect. It made it a lot easier to have a whole bank of bass sounds, rather than a whole bank of hip hop sounds.

Retro looking switch but seriosly why not bringing back some of the actual technology of the past instead of just the knobs?

Seeing this makes me wonder if Alesis plans to update the Micron this year. I wish I'd never sold mine. I'm really wanting a small handy portable synth again. The extra sequencing/groovebox features were a nice bonus to an above average sound engine. The Microkorg just never did it for me.

+1

The Micron is heads and shoulders above the MK in every way besides # of keys and the interface.

Run a Micron with a BCR2000 and it might as well be an ion with better filters and a killer little sequencer.

It's ugly

It looks like a retro toaster too.

To me it's like behringer making cool faceplates with the word TUBE on them, with the same circuitry inside.

Sure this keyboard is like the microkorg with a lcd screen, or maybe a R3 with lcd screen

Brilliant vocoder!
Just avoid the little crappy mic that comes with the Micro though.

I'd say that you're better off going for the original MS2000 series. The Microkorg is actually a cut down version of the software in the MS2000 series.

The vocoder in the MS2000 is sixteen band, while only eight band in the microkorg. Also, the MS2000 uses a better grade of converter.

I never cared much for the look of the original mk, but I think this looks really cool. It looks like an 80s stereo.
