I have had my OB-8 since 1983 and my Arp Oddysey and Solus since 1981. But the one I have used out live has been my Ensoniq SD-1 I bought in 1990. It has never failed me. I have gotten growling Hammonds and realistic guitar leads out of it. Its held together with black duct tape but never complains.

OB Four Voice (bought 1992).

My oldest electronica relationship would be with a Simmons SDSV brain and a 'ClapTrap', both bought around 1985.

OB Matrix 1000, bought the black one in 1988 and had it ever since. My most nostalgic would be the Ensoniq EPS, I have been keeping an eye out for the hard to find racked one.

Cheers,
Rob

Mine must be my JX-10, which I bought in 2002. Up until recently it would've been my Juno 6 but due to being skint I sold it to a friend.

1994 - Ensoniq ESQ-1

Damn.... those were the days!! And it sounded so good back then. I replaced it with SQ-80 5 years ago, but somehow the magic is gone. I guess i have too much different synths now that i have no time to spend with this old baby.

Also it was way cooler when i was a teenage jerk and knew nothing about synthesis. So... you tweak something and it changes in some totally unexpected way. Today, in 95% situations i know exactly how a sound will "sound" even before i move the knob - which gives a certain dose of frustration - and that surprise / discovery factor is gone forever.

just before that.

SCI Prophet 600 - Was the first synth i ever bought and i stupidly swapped it for a JD800. Regretted it soon after and searched for ages to find one again.

Why did you regret it? Just out of nostalgia or did you not like the JD? I think both are classics.

Oh, yeah and mine is the Novation BassStation – first synth, still have it. Don't think I'll ever get myself to sell it, eventhough I rarely use it at all.

Korg ER-1, I think. Or maybe the MS2000R. I bought them both in 2001, although I started getting into synths in late 1999.

My Kawai K5000s seems to stay with me every time I switch up my studio. It's definitely not the most used, but it always stays off the chopping block. The most used over the years were the Nord Lead and Virus's...

I do!!

I have a lead sound that I programmed when I was maybe 11 that I still have in there. Think of that classic 80s bell lead sound that everyone had going on at the time. I actually just used that sound on a track I'm working on for someone.

Man I had to mow a lot of lawns for that thing...... I think back then it was like 1500 dollars cdn. I had to pay half of it. Its the one machine that means a ton to me, and definitely one that I will not sell. Plus I still use it like crazy.

My oldest companion is a blue SH-101 I bought in 1985 (it was my second synthesizer after a Poly-800, and I didn't even know they came in different colors).
Nowadays it is heavily modified with a Mike Matthew's Soul Kiss built in, a filter CV input and a blue-LEDs-and clear-backlit bender set.
Maybe I'll do the Nova mod as well.

And I have never removed those edding dots in three different colors, marking my favorite settings in ca. 1987...

Cheers,
Bert

Still have my D50 I bought new in 1987, replaced a Yamaha CS70m that was just a beast to load into the car...like 75 pounds or something! Try that constantly into the back seat of an old Mach 1 especially after being in the studio for 15 hours, you know the drill its 3am need to get everything back into the house....

Well, if you count that:
The first keyboard I ever played was Yamaha SK-10 in early 1985. But it wasn't mine; I borrowed it from a friend.
About ten years later she offered to sell it to me, and I bought it. And I still have it, played it just some days ago. Nothing to write home about, but cheesy in a nice way, and back then it was certainly enough to start it for me...

Cheese!

Axxe. The mrs. and the kids are doing fine. Being a stock polygamist, 3 years ago I also exchanged vows with her sister, who has been modded, does different chores, but isn't as gritty fun as mrs. number one in weekends. Oh, they both adore to be slaved, preferrably together.
