This is what I was thinking. Couldn't you get an MW1 + Stereoping for ~$2,500? You wouldn't have the MW2 stuff, but...

I don't have any external effects and I think something "harsh and raw" needs FX more than most.

I hereby declare that the Microwave XT (10 voice) is the ULTIMATE microwave synth, bar none. This is in no way related to me selling my XT on Ebay for $2200 (or whatever the current price of the M may be; prices may change; read the small print; speak to my lawyers if you don't like it punk; etc.).

Also, the whole world agrees with me. In fact, all of the WORLD CLASS engineers and synthesizer LEGENDS that I have contacted agree with me. They all say the same thing: "stop bothering me and go away"!

Mods, please delete all responses to this message for I am a God of Synths and must not be Trifled with Lightly.

Here's a link to my Ebay listing if you're interested:

1) In HERE you can hire the engineers.
2) In HERE you can have your circuit boards built.
3) In HERE you can get electronic components
4) In HERE you can have metal case built.

Send me an invoice so that I transfer $1000. I will take one unit with features same or equivalent to those of a Waldorf M.

Thanks in advance!

That Sonicstate vid isn't going to do them any favours. Commenters already ripping into it.

How about two built Ambikas for $1000? One with SMR4 plus and one with the SVF!

The waldorf desktop size is a bit strange

Id rather have a wider rectangle that can go on top of a synth

The giant square is
I keep coming back to those demos. Grungy oscs with some very juicy filter options. The Waldorf has a better interface and in theory should be better all round but the Ambika still seems great to me.

I love me some Ambika (I have one with SMR4s) but it doesn't sound like Microwave, it never did and never won't.

That's because those commenters don't know how to "synth" .

I was having a bit of fun in my post but you removed from the quote about the crooked buttons, which was the main point made in relation to criticizing the cost. To be fair to Waldorf, it does look they they improved this a lot on the M and the case is a lot tighter around the buttons. ..and what I can make a synth for compared to Waldorf is an irrelevant false equivalency. Hard to tell seriousness on a forum though I guess that is why we have these icons

Here for the gear
So as someone who owns a Quantum, why do I need this? I mean, beyond my Waldorf fanboyism? I don't see how this is distinct. Anyone help?

Don't get me wrong - I like Waldorf and think the M sounds great so far. I am still kicking myself for selling my XTK in the early 2000s

Way different filters and oscillators are not as hi-fi.

Yes. That's a plus and a negative though! I've got a MW1 and the Ambika doesn't strike me as being lower in the sonic pecking order.

It's a combo of a less than stellar demo and no effects. People are so used to effects these days that a dry synth could be hard to sell at that sort of price.

I can't tell from the manual if it has an auto-pan feature. Like every other note/voice being panned. You can modulate the pan but that's not exactly the same thing unless the mod source can invert on each key press.

As much as I love Waldorf, I like my Blofeld more than my Quantum, which is totally bizarre. Maybe I'll sell my Quantum and get this M. Certainly, I'll use them both for a while and see if there's enough separation to keep them both. But, I imagine I could end up just keeping the M and selling my Quantum.

We'll see!

I'd take this one unit over a whole room full of 2-3 waveform analogs that have keys attached.

Now is a good time to sell your Quantum for the lowest price it will ever be on the used market of all time
