The smaller - Roland MC 101 - it looks so neat and cute...The only major difference between the MC 707 and the MC 101 is the number of tracks in the sequencer

At 999,- we are in MPC Live and Octatrack territory. Without having seen all the things the new box can do - it does not seem to be as comprehensive feature wise as the Live and the OT.

Perhaps priced a tad too high?

Exactly, but probably you can load some samples via its Usb connection…

interesting filter types, 'acoustic' LPF 2 & 3, Juno, Jupiter, Prophet 5 emulations
different time stretch window sizes
bounce to sample from track, main outs, or from computer


if the timestretching sounds cool & the overall output can enhance what you put in, i'm actually quite interested in this for jamming round my bandmates houses

I love my MX1 but wish it had less noise and more analog inputs..

they could literally make one that was an audio interface, 24 analog ins and half a dozen USB ports.. that'd be sick.

Curious to see on how well it will work as a sequencer for external gear, looks quite promising.

Apparently there's no specific MIDI mode vs. the Drum / Tone / Audio modes. All tracks can send MIDI, they spit it out unless you tell each track individually not to. Not sure at this stage if a channel per track can be set.

It's becoming quickly apparent that the MC-707 ticks a TON of boxes both as a composition tool and as a live tool. But the limit (?) of 16 max clip patterns per track per project might be stifling in a live situation. It'd be nice if Roland can up this a bit.

I wonder if those set in stone, or does Roland ever have a street price?

i was really expecting the new MC-x0x to be something like a System-8 in this form factor (with the classic ACB emulations and a more robust sequencer), but i guess this makes sense to have a more general sample-based synth engine. an MC-8S would be cool. all the Boutique/Cloud synths in one box with a sequencer and re-sampling would be awesome. oh well.

the 707 has me quite interested though, but more so for sample/loop playback than the built-in sounds.

everyone is going to complain that it has eight tracks but only four mono (or two stereo) outputs though. it's almost odd that it has two MIDI outs but no dedicated MIDI tracks.

?? that's all they ever quote is the "street price".

How deep can you get into editing I wonder..The 101 I'm sure isn't as editable on-board as the 707, but is the synth engine the same? I hope Roland can be bothered to produce a sw editor like they *didn't* do with the TB-3

its the same apparently, just the interface is much better on the 707.

Its pretty nice on paper, will be interesting to see if they are going for digital sounding or analogue emulation, with the FM or cross mod

Way too expensive to prize me away from my Live. But out of all the announcements I think these are the most interesting

did you read the midi I/O spec? let's just say it all depends on what you want from it regards sequencing
