Depeche Mode Enjoy the silence synth sweep sound

Hi, does anybody know how to make that synth sweep sound from Enjoy the silence?

I tried something in Synth1 but I can't make it sound good somehow....

is the second sweep from the song? How did you remove the rest of the music from it?

Is the 2nd clip your attempt in Synth1? Honestly it doesn't sound that far off. It's just missing a bit of bass/beef.

Personally as free softsynths go I've never gelled with Synth1. I feel like you could get more body to the sound using Tyrell N6. Aside from setting Osc 1, 2, and the sub each 1 octave apart from the next, try fiddling with PWM, unison, feedback, crossmod and ringmod to make things sound bigger and more aggressive. They could get too cacophonous if used all together, but some combination of them should give you the results you're looking for.

It's actually two layered sounds. It's an Xpander for initial "zap" and a Pro One for the sweep

You need the Flood plug in.

You can achieve the same effect on an old Emu sampler quite nicely with an inverted envelope on the filter and turning the resonance up. I also have a similar tone that I patched on my Sub37. That sweep is one of my "test patches" when trying out a new analog.

Fun fact is that I came across stems for the song (and don't ask for them) and that particular sound is pretty out of tune (bad loop point maybe) and also a bit thin; almost like just a single oscillator. I ended up going with my Sub37 patch to replace it in the mix I'm playing with.

You're awesome... thanks mate...

I know there were stems around sometime ago.... where did they go? They just dissapeared off the internet.

I wouldn't mind hearing your Sub37 version.

This is how I think it is (more or less) with a Minilogue...

Here for the gear

This was an extremely helpful thread. I ended up using a Memorymoon. I layered two presets: MMsweep_bass, and TOM perc_techno. I mixed the zap at about 60%.
