I was just re-iterating what the Yorky boys used to call a lot of what they did as they thought the word Techno wasn't particulary correct at the time. LFO Unique 3 ETC.. You know.

For sure 'Damn good' is another way to put it. Actually I like it. "that was a damn good hard one"

leftfield has nice tunes, i hate the EQ in filter fish drums, but i liked the song anyway, speacially the subs.

also...
Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You
Camisra - feel the beat
David Morales - Needin' U
mighty dub katz - let the drums speak
Alcatraz - Giv Me Luv
Todd Terry - Keep On Jumpin'
DJ Supreme - Tha Wildstyle (Supreme Ego Remix)

Hysteric Ego - Want Love

i think this was one of my first 12"
hysteric ego - ministry of love,
was so happy that i finally got it, but totally amazed & pluzzled about how different can sound the same song in a club. all mixes were great, most tall paul & armand mixes.

Anyone remembers this:

Emmanuel Top - Turkish Bazar (1994)

Emanuel Top - Stress (1995)

All records of Emmanuel Top are somewhat ground breaking to me.
A genius imho ..

lol ok 90% is an exaggeration.

recently I've been on a quest for (in cd / wav / flac but vinyl would work I guess)
solar quest / Acid Philez <-- used to be online, now gone
etnica / tribute ( Astral Way ) or first album <-- WHERE??
LSG / fragile
Vapour Space / gravitational arch
Crystal Method / Blast
1200 mics
schpongle <-- amazon
Man With No Name / Moment of truth <-- WHERE?
x-cabs / chemistry amazon / used
CJ Bolland / Prophet
carl craig / climax (original?)
expansion / listen
space girl / mission 0001 <-- WHERE ???
underground resistance / knights of the jaguar
hysteric ego / ministry of love
keoki / caterpillar

just noticed that slipmatt is on beatport. oho! and kid unknown time to sign up.
YouTube - CJ Bolland - The Prophet (Original)

I just ordered a few rave compiliation cds which cover some of the bases in this thread / some other ones i've had on my wishlist. *shrug* not sure if they will show up.

btw all you dubsteppers will be happy to know that the local cd store has a beats section with an entire block of dubstep actually labeled as such. meanwhile underworld and the presets live together in techno.

and no I'm not paying $100 - $500 for a cd on amazon. what a rip off.

thumbsup Good call. Have never gotten sick of listening to this track and don't think I ever will.

As for LSG... I have always loved Oliver Lieb's productions. He has a massive output of incredible tracks from the 90's. I recall some (not all!) of his Spicelab stuff was more on the "techno" side of things (I have the Testified 12" somewhere which is very much on the techno side of the fence), so no need to discredit him as a techno producer. I suppose he helped define the genre of "tech-trance" without meaning to? heh tutt

Firstly, do the world a favour and stop looking for them in the mp3 format altogether.

thanks for the heads up.

beatport actually has a nice selection, I know I've been tough on it in the past.

I would rather download wavs personally...or compressed lossless wav.

I never posted the single track that I think is the best Techno-Industrial song ever.

Band: Voice Industrie - song is Sterility

CBC Radio 3 - Breaking New Sound (you can click and listen to the 10 minute Teknik 99 mix of Sterility - which is a lot like the original) --> This version is more draw out than the original which hits harder and is only 7 minutes.

Simply brilliant in every way. It's a progressive song that starts soft but goes into all out abandon and kicks some major heavy ass.

I was there then-techno was nyc electro, the main difference was that techno applied faster tempo beats to what was electro. The first techno track came off a nyc electro label. That sound was what detroit appropriated, including atkins. Early Cybertron sounds like Planet Rock; it was all basically funkified/americanized kraftwerk.

It wasn't called electro then, it was hip-hop using vintage synths.

Thank you.

Thomas Krome was one of my favorites back then. His 1st record (that I know of) on Loop Records was awesome, then of course came the Code Red stuff & he blew up for a minute.

Impossible to name just one favorite techno track ever so here's a few:

A maverick choice, techno without a kick drum! Dave Angel remixed by Carl Craig:

YouTube - Dave Angel - Airborne, Carl Craig's Drums Suck Mix

Relatively recent Robert Hood track - hard to pick just one of his, but can't think of any other track this hard that funks like this:

YouTube - Robert Hood-Still hear(original mix)

Classic Jeff Mills track, invented loop techno (but don't hold that against it):

YouTube - Jeff Mills - Black Is The Number (Axis 011)

Just beautiful. This guy's playing in Dublin on Saturday and I'm paying a visit, can't wait:

YouTube - E.R.P. - Alsoran

More Detroit. How the **** did he make this?!? Amazing:
