Wait until 0:36 for the bassline to come in.... now that's how it's done! By the way this (the reverse sounds and arrangement) were edited with analog tape and a razor.

This stuff aint techno......

I know the confusion is not intentional by the way so here is some light hearted real techno.

My favourite techno tune of all time

Alter Ego - Betty Ford

My second.

Dave Clarke - Before I Was So Rudely Interrupted

only in the eyes of the media who label everything.

Sometimes the actual artists don't agree with the pigeon hole they are slotted into. Who is right then?

No body does it like this anymore. Raw slow hard and dark. Those PCP guys were crazy =o] Love the nasty ARP Ring Mod sounds in this one.

YouTube - Dave Angel @ Dreamscape 28/5/93 Techno/Rave part 1.

I so miss the early 90's the last decent proper music, fashion and attitude movement was the rave scene and club culture nothing like that or punk,disco,glam,electro/hiphop/breakdancing has come about since then to change people ideals.

Ben
I've not heard Ribbz in years. Man, nice to reminisce. This was the music that I loved all those years ago at a time when all my mates were into the bands of the day and they called everything techno. Even the crapiest top 40 dance like "Mr Vain". To them it was all the same. Took them so long to learn eh. They missed out on the best years (to me anyway).

What does that have to do with it?

Techno is a genre of music which was started in Detroit by The Belleville Four - Saunderson, May, Atkins, and Fowlkes.

It is not a blanket term to cover all and any forms of electronic music, including those which you have mentioned.

I've always wanted to chat to the man who decides what is techno and what is not. Who actually decides where the line is drawn.

Surely you can tell us why Aphex Twin, Orbital and FSOL cannot be regarded as techno?
