Sonar X2 Touch screen update + CA2A (la2a) plugin

looks good ...Cakewalk is really a dynamic company ....always a step above i think in some concept ...

it used to be in the pro channel only and really worth the try...

in case you missed it : more on the touch screen implentation

Is the CA-2A the same as the PC2A, but with VST an AU?

Just got it, cuz I had PC2A and 25 bucks left in Cakewalk store credit. Aw yeah -- about to rock this bitch. Curious to see how to stacks against Waves and Softube/NI. Don't have IK, unfortunately.

Also, the part in that vid about touch support augmenting the mouse, not replacing it, is very compelling and making me rethink an Apple tenant: "if it has a stylus (or mouse) it failed." The use of two hands, mouse for dominant hand, touch for other, could be very cool.

i think so ...anyway , it's a damn good la2a and i didn't used it just because it was PC only (prochannel only) for my ears , the second best la2a i tried !

I have the PC2A and I am fine with Pro Chan now that they allow VST bins in that area.

BTW, what is your first best la2a?

nope seem you have to buy ...but if you're looking for a very good LA2A and don't own one already , don't even think twice !!

if you need more comp at the same time go CLA when it's on sale ....or NI

I saw your Demo awhile back and I thought the Waves sounded the best. I got the PC2A when it went on sale, but the CLA is still on my wishlist.

The only thing that concerns me about a touchscreen on a desktop or laptop is the arm movements are much more drastic than just using a trackpad. A track pad has a surface area that is only about 4 inch square, so your hands/arms don't move long distances as compared to your fingers only moving a few inches and still being able to do all of the various gestures. For me, I already have a bad shoulder from playing the drums over many years and large arm movements on a computer will get my arms tired VERY quickly. I'm just VERY skeptical as to the long term affects these touch screen displays on laptops and desktops will have on people's arms over time. I know it's cool and makes a great demo, but I'm more concerned with long term affects of years of using these devices. I've had discussions with others about it and they have the same concerns. For now, I'll stick to a trackpad and gesture mouse and control surface and rely on small arm movements.

it's all a question of layout and work flow .....

the touch screen is a "plus" , not the restrected way to use it

Live performer will benefit from it !!

i also plane to use it in the recording room as a remote , this let you do basics operation since the room or let artsist do its thing (play rec ect ..) if he needs (or when i record myself)

I also think about integrate one small screen in the table on my left to use on pair with my regular screen and mouse

the scrooling abilty on my left hand , faders in front of me (console) and mouse on right as usual ....

I just see it as options .....
