How many slabs of Rockwool do I need?

Hi all,

I'm about to build some gobos which I can use to set up an amp booth. I'm looking for a way to record loud guitars in my living room without upsetting the neighbours. I figured using a couple of 5 cm (= about 2 inches) thick slabs of Rockwool as filling should do the trick to minimize leakage.

How many slabs of Rockwool would you recommend I should stack inside the gobo? In other words, how thick should I make the Rockwool filling?

Thanks!

For the best sound in your room: Maybe 20% of the rooms surface. I suggest you use 10 cm Rockwool.
For your neighbors: Fill the room with Rockwool! ;-)

and for the neighbors benefit, you might consider seal kits for your living room windows.

Alright! Is there some kind of formula to calculate the attenuation in dB in relation to the thickness of the material used?
