DIY Gobo, Roxul Safe n Sound

I recently just finished three gobo's with 3 in ch thick Roxul safe n sound rock wool. Instead of laying them flat, I cut them in half and set them side by side (like books on a book shelf) so that they would fit the 7 inch depth of the 24x48x7.5 gobo. I attached some pictures.

Does anyone know if it will affect the sound absorption if I stacked them side by side, instead of layering the panels flat?

Thanks.

ps. I am planning to staple the fabric on to the frame to be able to put in more rock wool and have it more compact.
