Do These Look Like Worthy Products?

DIY Acoustic Panel with good bass absorption - eBay (item 230502591493 end time Aug-22-10 00:45:18 PDT)

The price is right, and the size is what I need to tuck into some wall-ceiling triple corners. The questions is, I guess, whether these have enough stuffing to be effective.

I'm sure they'd work, but 4" would be better for the corners.
You can definitely make them cheaper than that, if you have access to the 703 or similar.
I just built 4 4x24x48 corner traps and one 2x48x48 cloud for around $150.

Good point, but it makes me wonder how Ethan Winer's Minitraps work. They're only 3 inches thick.
Do Ethan's products do something that this fellow's don't?

Yes. First, 3 inches is a lot thicker than 1-1/2 inches. But we also add a membrane to the front of our traps which increases their bass absorption further.

I have a feeling it really is only 1", which is not near thick enough. Sorry but I ain't seeing any deal there.

Exactly. I mean, I'm all for DIY believe me, but it seems like you could do so much better than that for less money.

Ditto what has been said above.

Additionally, you will most likely also be facing a pretty steep shipping charge as a result of their size, as well as the increased likelihood of damage due to crushing, etc - with sufficient packaging being rather prohibitive for an individual lacking dedicated packing material...

I would tend to opt for building them yourself for quite a few reasons, as they really are not difficult to make and require a bare minimum of tools.

Take a look at some of the DIY posts for an idea of the work involved, and don't let them scare you off.

Can you email me the plans you used for the 4 panels & cloud??
