Live Drum concern

I record in large auditoriums where bleed is a heartbreak to my recordings, with the Remote VG technique, it has become much better.

However still plagued by my 8 track recorder:
I have only 3 allotted tracks, for drums, on this next session.

I record jazz. Straight ahead jazz drummers use the kick drum differently then rock players. Kick is almost secondary to the cymbals and snare...not played as loud or as often.

I have not recorded with my new M160's yet. Don't know if M160's overhead and a kick mic is enough to ward off the hall reverb and have control of the set.

Please advise, Steve and friends.

Use the directionality of the OH mics to your advantage. Upstage often is pretty dead, so put the OH in front and and position the null instead of the front of the mic.
