Question Which mic pre with a/d converter?

I am looking for a good mic pre with and a/d converter, to connect it to an Edirol r 44. Which one would you elected?

Perhaps an Aphex 207 is up your alley.

AES only - but as AES and S-PDIF are pretty well the same spec (main differences are higher voltage in AES and AES does not pass CD and DAT start IDs) you can just wire straight through.

Then, you say that I can conect an AES output to spdif input?

That mico does look like a nice product, but what is up with their UK/US price differential?

The Audient ASP-008 with and without ADAT prices seem to be more representative of their UK prices at today's conversion. However the Mico i see for $1,000-$1,100 US when it should be more in the $600-$650 range.

Yeah, that scared me off. I'd really like one of these Micos. They seem to sell for about $500 + VAT in the UK. I wonder if any of those shops will ship to the US? The Black Series prices are skewed, too - but not quite as bad.

Scared me off quite a bit too, to the point that i'm picking up a used DBX 386.
I don't expect it to be great, but it does the 2 preamps + A/D thing for not alot of money. I just wanted something for quiet sources live with a quieter EIN than my Metric Halo 2882 pre's since the last remote gig i brought my really nice ultra-quiet Phoenix Audio preamps, and they got banged around too much.

I'd still like to hear the Mico some day, as long as the pricing comes down to earth.
I'm sure you could find a UK dealer willing to ship here with a low declared value. They're trying just as hard to make a buck as anyone else these days.

My vote is for the Lunatec V3. it has analog in and SPDIF, XLR analog, and AES out. I had my A/D chip changed out by Doug Oade. It is the Advanced Concert Mod. You can pick up a V3 for $900-1000 and the mode is $175. Run it with my Schoeps mics and it sounds delightful.
